What is the Safe Space?

Picture
The Safe Space is a haven for students who feel threatened by substances or unhealthy behaviors present in their living area.  Students are encouraged to use the Safe Space for quiet studying, recreation, or as an opportunity to discuss the issues they are encountering and request advice.  A futon is available for students who wish to spend the night.

Where is the Safe Space?

The Safe Space is located in Morgan Apartment 3.  The apartment is equipped with a full kitchen, a sofa, a futon, two lounge chairs, and a large table with cushioned chairs.  Board games, a television, and other entertainment may also be provided.

When is the Safe Space available?

Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm to 2am.  Two peer advisors trained by the Counseling Center will be available to discuss ways of coping with troubling situations.

If you are interested in becoming a peer advisor, email Lauren Duran at [email protected].  We will be holding another training session soon!
